The BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) is not only about the train and shipping, new alliances are also emerging in the air.
This month, two Asian airlines companies Air Astana (Kazakhstan) and Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong) will begin reciprocal codeshare partnership for several destinations from  Central Asia to Australia.
For Air Astana, the aim of this agreement is to take advantage of Hong Kong hub and connect the capital of Kazakhstan to all Asian destinations.
Thanks to its central position in the BRI program, Kazakhstan is experiencing significant economic development, and Cathay Pacific is counting on greater integration of this Central Asian country in world trade.

Located halfway between Europe and the Asia Pacific region, Astana has the potential to become a major new air hub like some airports in the Gulf such as Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
For Kazakhstan, the BRI is now at the heart of its development strategy.
